| Berlin
is a very flat, bike-friendly city - so take the bicycle
for a very unique tour in Berlin. Lead by U.S. American guides our
Bike Tours are great ways to see the city and understand what makes
Berlin so special. We will ride almost exclusively on bike paths and
less-travelled roads, and we stop every few hundred meters to discuss
the sights, so our tours aren't the least bit strenuous. Why punish
your feet walking? |

Taking
the bicycle is a good idea also in a lot of other areas in Germany.
Take the route along rivers like at the Elbe from Wittenberg to
Torgau. Or at the Rhine and through the beautiful countryside wherever
you might stop.
|
| One
of the favourite places for rock
climbers
is the area of "Saxon Switzerland", a national park along
the Elbe river between Dresden and the Czech border. Add this special
activity to your tour, and enjoy the wild, craggy country with worn
cliffs and plateaus. And if you don't happen to be in Dresden: there
are several High
Ropes Courses
all over Germany. |

A
"Draisine"
railcar
might be the most crazy way you ever used to get from A to B. Driven
like a bicycle it carries singles as well as small groups on real
rail tracks. Don't worry: the tracks are not used by trains anymore,
so you can enjoy scenic rides through forests and over bridges.
Riding a Draisine became a very popular activity in Germany. Tracks
can be find in almost every area.
|
| Germany's
coasts, lakes, rivers and canals are all popular playgrounds for water-based
pursuits. Canoeing
and kayaking
are very popular in several places like the Spreewald south of Berlin
or in national parks in Bavaria. |

For
centuries mines
where very important to get treasures like coal, salt and other minerals
out of the ground. Martin Luther grew up with mining since his father
owned several copper mines. Some mines are open for visitors nowadays.
Ride on an open truck through Merkers mine with its well known crystal
grotto. Gold from the Berlin Reichsbank where brought here by the
Nazis in WWII, and General Eisenhower himself came to evacuate it. |
If
you want to get even deeper insight information than your TERRA LU
companion and your group leader can give you, book the help of local
guides
in the different towns. They will show you special points of interest,
or give you detailed information to different topics. Jewish life
before WWII, the biography of a certain writer, or different architectural
styles might give your tour a special theme. Some guides might also
show up in historic costumes - let a real looking knight, town writer
or night guard be your guide in a medieval restored small town!
